Via ferrata safety skills course

The number of rescues on via ferratas is constantly increasing; most accidents can be explained by lack of knowledge and unconscious incompetence. During this 4day course you learn the basic skills to be able to safely negotiate advanced via ferratas. We take a look at basic rock climbing techniques that will help you move efficiently in the steeper sections. We also look at via ferrata equipment and its correct use, we talk about planning a via ferrata trip and most importantly we get a good idea about our personal competence.

Day 1 
Meet in Grindelwald, basic training at the Gletscherschlucht crag and the Indoor Rope Park. Spend the night at the Berggasthaus in Alpiglen or a hostel in Grindelwald.

Day 2 
Basic skills training on the Rotstock via ferrata, where we practice what we learned the previous day. Impressive views from the top of the Rotstock. We spend the night with the Zwald family in the cosy Berggasthaus Alpiglen.

Day 3 
Early start and hike through light forest to the start of the Ostegg hut via ferrata. In the evening mini bus transfer to the Tälli hut in the Haslital valley.

Day 4 
Another early start hiking along the steep rock walls of the Tällistock. The views from the summit are fantastic and make you linger. The descent takes us past Birchlaui back to the valley. Mini bus transfer back to Grindelwald late afternoon.

Our mountain guide will meet you at the Grindelwald Dorf train station at 9.40am.
