The Bärgli hut was on of the first mountain huts in the Swiss Alps. It was used as a base for climbing the Mönch and Jungfrau. Today the hut amost been forgotten about since it's not situated close to the usual climbing routes. Because of its unique scenery it is definitely worth a visit. There is no warden in the hut; we cook our own dinner on the wood stove. In summer 2009 the Grindelwald section of the Swiss Alpine Club has taken over the Bärgli hut, we are pleased that the future of the hut is in good hands.
Day 1
Meet at Jungfraujoch, glacier hike to the lower Mönchsjoch, further glacier descent and over a short rocky ridge to the Bärgli hut.
Day 2
We hike back up the glacier to the Mönchsjoch hut and later to the Jungfraujoch.
